There are many surfboard rentals shops (many not in surf shops) along the coastal streets and boardwalks of most public beaches in Los Angeles. Look for their storefront signs. If you're a beginner, choose a rental surfboard with the same description as if buying a first surfboard. If you're a visitor or local wanting to demo a more high performance surfboard, try the Surf Shops. Some Surf Shops rent surfboards. Many don't.
